I am a very normal 30-something woman living in London. Or at least I was until recently. Athletically average and academically average, the only exceptional things about me are a set of very long legs and very tiny ears.
Brought up on a farm, I craved the outdoors and was generally underwhelmed by sitting at a desk all day. I was looking for a monumental, life-changing challenge and stumbled upon Antarctica Ice Maiden – the first all-female team attempt to ski coast-to-coast across Antarctica in October 2017.
Currently part of the 7-woman squad training for the expedition, I am waiting to find out whether I am on the final team of five or a non-travelling reserve. I risked it for a chocolate biscuit.
